Speech, PT, Doctor Visit and More Progress

Ceil had to go back to work today. Jane came right on time and didn't waste any time putting Ceil to work on item ID.

Steve came late, but also started right away with exercises and stretching, which lead to another successful walking session at the end. Ceil did so well and really worked hard to take every step. What a difference since leaving the nursing home. After a short nap, we went to see Dr. Danielson. He was so happy to see Ceil and said right away, "You look so good!" No changes or recommendations were made, and the doctor was pleased with the progress Ceil has been making at home. Afterward, Brian came to visit during tea, followed by a nice seafood dinner. Then a much deserved rest after a busy Monday.

Sunday Visit

Sunday is usually a good day for visits and today brought a special visitor to Ceil. Mary Vleck came and had a very nice time with Ceil. Mary was so pleased with how healthy and happy Ceil looked. Later, Larry called and talked briefly, yes briefly with Ceil and Ceil was very vocal and engaged in the conversation. After a nice outing to the mall, and a hearty chili dinner. Ceil was ready for bed. A nice Sunday for Ceil at home.

Saturday Surprise

Today marked one month since Ceil came back home. So much has happened since then. We've seen such progress and recovery. What a blessing! Kevin came to visit this morning and got a little surprise from Ceil. Stay tuned for more.

Friday Update

Ceil had a super Friday. The day began with the nurse visit. Tammy did vitals and examined Ceil rather thoroughly and found that she was in great health and looking better everyday. Speech went very well, as Ceil was able to identify many new items and really spoke up during the session. Pt was the crowning event of the morning. Steve had Ceil walking the width of the dinning room four times! The last effort was so good as Ceil purposefully took each step and straightened her right leg before advancing her left leg. What a thing to see! Each day brings a new small miracle for Ceil. What a joy to be a part of this process. Next time I will have pictures and photos. See you then.

Spinning

Every day Ceil uses, what I call the "spinner" to work her legs and to warm up her joints before therapy. Ceil really enjoys it and will spin for almost 20 minutes at a time. Afterward, we usually go for a morning walk and enjoy the morning sun. Today, Jane was here working with Ceil on item ID, reading comprehension, and proper introductions and how to ask for things she needs. Ceil had an 80% comprehension rate on her reading skills, which is up quite a bit from just three weeks ago! Another tradition that has just came about is tea at three. Ceil is usually up from her nap by 3:00 and enjoys a cup of tea, (British style) with fig cookies, or another kind of sweet. It is just a nice way to wake up and enjoy a simple pleasure. We will enjoy the rest of the day and look forward to another walk with Linda after dinner. See you tomorrow.

Easy Tuesday

Ceil had an easy Tuesday. OT came at 9:00 and worked with Ceil. Yvonne had Ceil untie and take off both of her shoes, and was pleased at the problem solving skills she displayed while doing the task. PT was unable to make their appointment. Denise came by and did Ceil's finger and toe nails this morning. Ceil was excited to have Denise here and put up a good fight to stay awake during the process.
