A blog that is following the life of Cecelia, living at home after her stroke (which left her with right side paralysis and aphasia). There's no place like home!

Sunday- bacon, tacos and a whole lot more
The sun was shining when Kevin got Ceil up. After a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon, family started dropping in through out the day. Doug and Doris stopped by to show Ceil photos for their new grandson Jameson. The Brian and Mickie came for the day. Everyone decided it was too nice to sit inside so the party moved to the patio. Denise and Bill stopped by to pick up the overnight guests Ceil had (Hannah and Ian)...school shopping was on their list of things to do. Bill and Denise celebrated their 23 year wedding anniversary over the weekend. Colleen made turkey tacos for everyone for lunch. Even Doug, Brenda, and Alyssa Jenkins (who stopped in after church) got into the taco action. After Ceil's nap, Kevin, Colleen, Ceil and Neeji took a short walk around the neighborhood, and then it was an intense game of Yatzee. I think Ceil got two yatzees and won the game. Not to waste leftovers, Colleen served up BLTs for dinner. After dinner we skyped Rob in Texas and he gave us a skyped tour of the condo. Brian got in a few zingers to Rob, but Rob zinged right back. Kevin, Colleen, Mickie and Brian left and Ceil retired to bed after a busy day of visiting. Labor Day plans include Ceil getting her hair colored and cut and perhaps running a few errands for the house.

Fun-Filled Day for Ceil
Ceil had a busy day attending a couple monumental events. Kevin and Colleen are here for the weekend. Kevin and Colleen got Ceil all gussied up to attend Roger and Karen Kuklok's 50th Wedding Anniversary Party at the Legion in Royalton. No matter where Ceil goes there always seems to be plenty of people that know her, including many members of the Kuklok family. There was food, stories and plenty of pictures to look at. Karen even had her wedding dress on display. Ceil had a good time. Ceil came home to rest a bit and then it was off to the DQ for one last treat before they close their doors at the division street DQ. After many years of serving up cones, dilly bars and everything else the division DQ offered us, it's closing its' doors and being torn down. Although they are rebuilding less than twenty yards from their current location, the original location will always be a permanent part of our childhood memories. For our last order at the DQ it was: Ceil- butterscotch dilly bar; Kevin- medium twist candy crunch cone; Colleen- chocolate dipped cone; Ian-hot fudge sundae; Linda-small candy crunch cone; and a to-go order for Hannah- small snickers blizzard. It was a perfect evening to eat a DQ and reminisce with the other local St. Cloudians about their childhood memories at the DQ. Now Ceil is watching a Fred Astaire movie. Not sure what's happening tomorrow, guess we'll see what it will bring.

Summer Pictures
Camera charger was finally found and camera is ready for a new round of pictures. Below are pictures from Ceil's summer. Trip up north and the 4th of July at Kathy and David's were among two of Ceil's outings. I'm sure now that the camera is ready and raring to go more pictures and posts will be coming your way.

After a long absence of posts, Ceil's children are ready to keep everyone updated on Ceil's life. Last weekend Brian and Mickie were here with Ceil. Ceil kept them busy killing the weeds on the patio, washing four loads of sheets/towels, and meal preps. Brian, Mickie and Ceil did get out Sunday for an afternoon of BINGO at the Clearwater Legion. No one won but they had fun. Denise, Doug and Karen rotate through the week and all the in-state siblings rotate on the weekends. Last week Ceil went to the Benton County Fair with Karen and Linda. It was a beautiful (but warm) evening but Ceil enjoyed herself- especially the square dancers. Usually the day-caregiver will get Ceil out for a walk either around the neighborhood or he/she will take Ceil on a walking trail here in town. This weekend Kevin and Colleen are holding down the fort. Colleen made oatmeal for Ceil for breakfast. Colleen also served her homemade pound-cake- yum! Larry called and filled everyone in on the current status of "Orange Madness" (you'll have to ask him yourself about it). Kevin and Colleen spent time outside pulling weeds while Ceil looked-on. Not sure what else is on the agenda today.

Mom spent almost a week at Annie's in International Falls. We left on 24 and returned on the 30th. I will post photos later. Here is a list of things we did while up north. We arrived late afternoon, had supper made by Jim then enjoyed the deck and nature. We saw a doe go through the yard and hummingbirds at the feeders on the deck. Monday we packed the van for an over night trip to Doris in Bemidji. Before everyone arrived Doris and Mom sang a song about Cecelia. Family arrived for a pot luck supper. Maxine, Lee, cousins Mary and Ann and Trey, Con and Angie, Alan and family, Ann Vleck. If i've forgotten someone forgive me. We headed back to the Falls on Tuesday. We had a rest when we got back to Annie's. Wednesday we spent a few hours in town, a hair cut for Mom and out to lunch at a pizza place. Thursday we went to the visitor center at Voyageurs National park. We took a short walk tour. Friday we went to another visitors center and had lunch on the Ash River. A bbq rib dinner cooked by Jim rounded out Friday. Saturday after a shower and breakfast time to pack up and head home. A fun trip and thanks to Annie and Jim for having us. Looking forward to another trip up there soon. Pictures will come later. Mom, Karen, Denise, Hannah, Annie and Jim.
