New Hair Style for a Busy Saturday

Ceil woke this morning bright and early. Linda wasted no time in getting her into the shower. After four days at the hospital, and with only two bed baths during that time, Ceil was looking forward to a shower. Afterward, we went to the mall for a much needed style as Great Clips. The stylist was so nice and gave Ceil a nice style. After a light lunch, it was time for a nap. Afterward Ceil went to visit with her family at Bill and Denise's house. It was a cookout, with hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, and the works. Ceil didn't miss a beat and had a great time visiting with all of her family that came to see her today. A great time was had by all.

Welcome back Ceil!

Back Home!

Ceil was released from the hospital today. The doctor felt it would better to send her home and resume therapy as planned at the plaza. Ceil was so excited to get dressed and get home. Doug and I brought her home in her van . When she came in the door she said, "Oh yeah!" and pointed to the recliner. Later, Linda brought fried chicken home for dinner, as promised. Annie came down to visit for the weekend, and Ceil was so delighted to see her. Having Annie here made coming home that much sweeter for Ceil. Ceil enjoyed good conversation that evening, and then a good nights' sleep in her own bed. It is so good to have Ceil back where she belongs - Home.
Enjoying tea and a snack at 3:00.

Followed by a nap in her recliner.

Update

I visited with Ceil this morning at the hospital. She looked really good and was in good spirits as well. She had eaten most of her breakfast and was watching the news. I had a nice talk with Ceil's nurse and she indicated that Ceil may be transferred to the rehab unit for a few days to get up to speed before coming home. I think that is a good idea. Linda and I came to visit Ceil after work and had a very nice time. Linda did Ceil's hair and washed her face. She really enjoyed that. Ceil is looking forward to going to the rehab unit for a few days and then coming home. We are Looking forward to Ceil's return home and continued recovery.

Quiet Night

Ceil had a full day of testing and evaluations. So, by the time Linda and I arrived she was quite tired, but in very good spirits. Denise had been there for a while visiting and encouraging Ceil as she was eating her dinner. We talked and Linda shared photos with Ceil. It was a nice visit, and Ceil was ready for bed by 7:00 pm. We left her with a peaceful and restful look on her face as she was drifting off to sleep.

Moving Forward

We visited Ceil this evening. Denise had been there since the afternoon. Ceil was in very good spirits and happy to see us. She is ready to go home. She gave me the thumbs ups when I asked her how she was doing. If all goes well, Ceil may be coming home tomorrow. Ceil will be on medication for a period of time to ensure that she will have no more seizures. We are looking forward to getting her back home.

A Bump in the Road

Well, today Ceil had a minor set-back. Just as she was getting ready for her shower with the home health aide, she suffered a seizure. The aide had never dealt with a seizure before and was a bit rattled by the experience. However, the situation was handled in a professional and straight-forward manner and Ceil was taken to the hospital directly for observation. She is now doing well and resting, and is expected to return home in a few days. The incident will have no bearing on Ceil's recovery. As we have said on the blog intro, we will follow Ceil through the ups, downs, and little victories that will make this an amazing journey. This is one of the downs. It is really more like a bump in the road of Ceil's recovery. One that will leave her stronger, and Linda and I more determined to be the best we can for Ceil when she returns home. Sitting here, without Ceil is a very empty feeling for Linda and I. We can't wait to get her back. Please keep Ceil in your prayers.

4th of July

Ceil had such a wonderful day at David and Kathy's lake cabin. On this 4th of July, Ceil was able to go out the lake and spend a pleasant day with her family just kicking back and having fun. The weather was warm, but the breeze kept it very tolerable for Ceil as she smiled and took it all in. Billy and Leslie came by to visit. What a wonderful surprise for Ceil. Bill, Denise, Hannah, and Ian were there. Everyone brought such good food and deserts. There was also a parade of boats on the lake and plenty of laughs from Brian. Ceil was able to stay until 4:30, which is quite a long time visiting and having so much fun. Ceil said her goodbyes and thank yous. With invites to return any time, we left the lake, Ceil looking forward to getting back home and enjoying her lazyboy for the rest of the day. Happy 4th of July!
