Ceil and Linda going out for a walk in brisk evening air
A blog that is following the life of Cecelia, living at home after her stroke (which left her with right side paralysis and aphasia). There's no place like home!

Doug, Dickies, and more
Today Doug picked up Ceil for her Tuesday outing. Ceil and Doug had a nice walk around the mall and a stop at Target for coffee. Pat and Renee were enjoying a cup of coffee as well. The four ended up at Dickies for lunch. Ceil enjoyed her morning with her son (who has a birthday tomorrow- happy birthday Doug) and her old friends.
Sunday Update
All was quiet on Sunday. Mellow and restful day for Ceil after a busy Thanksgiving holiday.

Saturday-- Christmas cookies and holiday cheer
We woke Ceil up early to get a jump on the day. Ceil was ready for her closeup after visit the the Gross Spa and Beauty Salon. Ceil took a few steps in the kitchen in order to pose for the camera. After breakfast there are cookies to be baked and decorated. This afternoon there might be a short trip to Home Depot to look for a new showerhead (with a palm on/off switch) and then this evening the Christmas is going up. Anyone who would like to come over to decorate the tree is welcomed. Ceil would enjoy the company. Ceil would love to hear the stories about the homemade decorations that will be decorating the tree. Larry- we'll make sure your bells are front and centered.
It's a Christmas Wonderland at Home Depot
Lunch at Culver's- hamburger and fries...yum!

Friday- Quiet black Friday
While everyone else was out busting down the doors for deals, Ceil enjoyed the peace and quiet of her home. Annie, Jim and Karen came for a visit this afternoon. Ceil enjoyed visiting with them and catching up on life. Ceil got a Thanksgiving day card from Chris and Patrick wishing Ceil gobbles and gobbles of fun on Thanksgiving...thanks for the card Chris and Patrick. Coversation came up about the poinsettia and there's still a great debate among all on who made the giant poinsettia: was it Harvey, the doctor, or Don Verioux? Ceil was delighted to see the poinsettia lit up outside (it was a surprise for Ceil). After dinner we took a little stroll around the mall...no deals to be found but plenty of people looking for them. The weather is suppose to get colder tomorrow so plans are to bake some cookies, put up the Christmas tree, and find some Christmas shows on TV.

Thanksgiving- Family, Food, Fun and the Poinsettia!
Ceil woke up and was excited about today being Thanksgiving. Doug came to pick up Ceil for her road trip to Brian and Mickie's. Annie, Jim, Kevin and Colleen (and Gene-a friend of Brian) were there to enjoy the day with Ceil. Brian and Mickie prepared some great food, while other brought great sides of ham, salads and pies to finish off the meal. Ceil enjoyed visiting with everyone and catching up on the events in their lives. Also, Ceil received phone calls from all over including Larry in CA, Maxine in Bemidji, and Ken from Japan...thanks for the calls!!! A special thank you to Doug for taking Ceil on the road trip and to Annie for watching over Ceil today so that the caregivers could have some quiet time together (which included a long walk, a short shopping trip to Kmart and Walmart, and a quiet-healthy thanksgiving dinner). Ceil will have a light dinner in her lazyboy and watch a Christmas show this evening ( Miracle on 34th Street is on in a few minutes). Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! OH...one more additional thing... the Poinsettia is back (see the pictures below)...a blast from the past! Today's trivia question...who made the poinsettia for Ceil?
The Grinch and his pals Thing 1 and Thing 2 are ready to break out of the box for another holiday season!
Wednesday- Quiet day
Quiet day today. Ceil continues to do her daily spinning to keep her leg muscles loose. Ceil is also assisting more in her personal cares. Denise and Hannah came for a short visit. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Ceil will be taking a road trip with Doug down to Brian's house in St.Michael. Brian and Mickie will be cooking up a great Thanksgiving dinner for Ceil and family. Ceil watched a little bit of Gone With the Wind this evening, then it was off to bed...after all, tomorrow is another day!

Tuesday Morning with Dougo
Ceil was with Doug this morning. They went to a few places around town, and made a stop at the mall. They had coffee at Target, and again met up with Pat and Renee. Lunch was at Dickie's BBQ for the two for Tuesday sandwich deal. A nice morning for Ceil.
Monday- Quiet day
Ceil was motivated this morning. She did some spinning to work her leg muscles. We put her sun lamp by her lazyboy chair a few days ago and this seems to be helping her alertness and attitude. Doug stopped by to fix a few things (loose board on the ramp and had the van aligned). Kaite, Stevie and Christopher stopped by to see Ceil later in the day. Christopher loves his great gramma so much! He came crawling behind us into Ceil's room as we were putting Ceil to bed. Ceil went to bed with a big kiss from Christopher and a big smile on her face. Tomorrow is DDBBQ day- Doug/Dickies/BBQ.

Sunday- Sunny morning
Ceil was up and dressed for the Vikings game early today, including Vikes earrings. After breakfast we took a ride to Walmart to pick a prescription and a much needed snow shovel. The first aisle in Walmart had mega-sized candy items for Christmas...Ceil laughed as we pointed out all the big candy (and big calories) on the shelves. After a healthy lunch of steak and rice, Ceil watched some of the Vikings/Raiders game. Ceil is resting now...plan for the afternoon is to pick up some tp and look around for Christmas lights for the ramp.
