Today, Ceil will start occupational therapy at the plaza. I thought a good breakfast was in order. So I made the traditional eggs, bacon, and toast breakfast for Ceil this morning. This morning's session will be more of an assessment than therapy, but will still be a bit of work for Ceil. It is our hope that OT will use the Hand Rehabilitation System on Ceil's right hand, as it appears to be quite effective with stroke patients. We just got back from OT at the plaza. I'll tell you, Ceil is a real trooper. She worked so hard for the therapist this morning. We saw movement in the thumb, wrist, elbow, and shoulder! The therapist said that she will do everything she can to help use the arm and hand again. Of course, no promises were made as to what degree of function would be attained through the therapy, but this is a great start! The therapist will use electro-stimulation as well. I was also please to hear that OT authorized 12 visits for Ceil! That is twice what PT authorized. I'll take pictures when we go back for therapy next week. Keep the prayers and thoughts coming this way, as we are in an exciting phase of Ceil's recovery. Keep checking back as Ceil continues to make more progress with each session.
Oh yeah, Brian, (uncle Fester) will be coming later to take Ceil to the St. Augusta Legion today for dinner, and to meet friends she hasn't seen for a long time.
Brian, (uncle Fester) and Mickie arrived on time, and they were off to the St. Augusta legion. When they arrive, they were surprised that 20 of Ceil's friends were there to see her. Many of them with gifts for Ceil. What a wonderful surprise! According to Mickie, Ceil's face was lit up and she was enjoying every minute of her time there. Ceil also enjoyed a great chicken dinner and live polka music. Uncle Fester and Ceil did hit the dance floor when the band played, "apples, peaches, pumpkin pie" What a great time Ceil had at the legion. Thanks to Mary for making this such a special time for Ceil.
Ceil enjoying a hearty breakfast.
Ready for the night out.
