Thursday Update - One Year of Recovery

A year ago today, Ceil was taken to North Memorial hospital after suffering a severe stroke.  No one knew exactly what the prognosis would be for Ceil after such a devastating event.  The doctors were saying that Ceil would regain little, if any function, but we all knew better.  Today, Ceil has not only regained much of what was lost due to the stroke, she is thriving and living a wonderful life at home.  Ceil is enjoying life and continues to make small steps toward meaningful recovery everyday.  Being home has made all the difference in Ceil's recovery.  Linda and I will continue to keep you posted on Ceil's on-going recovery at home.  Thank you for being a part of this blog!

The early days after the stroke.

Ceil today, enjoying life and looking great!

Doug, Doris, Ceil, Linda and I had a little celebration for Ceil's first year of recovery at Famous Dave's.  She had a great time.

We got her the same hoodie that Hannah got for her birthday.  They can be twins!

Ceil is stylin'

She still has the spunk of a teenager!

Ceil did so good on the floor today.  She was able to use her core strength and moved very well.

  1. All right, Mom. You're doing great. We're behind you all the way, and are praying everyday for your recovery. Keep up the good work.

And, many thanks to Rob, Linda, and the rest of the crew for all they do for Mom. Those of us who can only be there in spirit appreciate it very much. You don't know how much.

And, a happy Feast of the Epiphany to you! In case you don't know, Jan. 6th, the Feast of the Epiphany, is the day Mom always took down the Christmas decorations. Did you all do that today?
